PREPARATION

This important stage is the planning stage. It’s not about perfection, it’s about focus. You will want to decide two things: what is going on and where it is happening and who do you want to include.

The what: for each scene, determine what you want it to convey. What is the main point you want to share and who needs to be involved in sharing it? Create a rough draft of your message. It could be as a script, a storyboard, a series of tiny sticky notes - as long as it makes sense to you.

The where: location can matter! Choosing a quiet background, or a location relevant to your story can help viewers lean into your message.

The who: identify who helps tell your story. It can absolutely be just you, or you can invite others to collaborate on sharing what you’ve experienced whether they talk with you, share their experiences, or are in the background supporting you.
